The happy life of a happy wife…

{December 2, 2010}   Bacon and Gouda Quiche

There are a few things I really like about this quiche:

  1. No need to blind bake the pie crust.  (You don’t need to pre-bake it)
  2. It’s super easy.
  3. There are 4 eggs in each pie.
  4. It has bacon.
  5. It has GOUDA!

The ingredients

#1 - Bacon

#2 - Gouda

#3 - Parmesan

Whisk eggs and cream

Bake it up

Enjoy!I'll tell you - that big blob of white in the middle was because I didn't whisk my eggs enough... but for me, it was a mistake that tasted good. Kinda like a hard-boiled egg 🙂

...Daisy thought it smelled reaaally good!

Ingredients:

  • 3 ounce package of bacon pieces
  • 6 ounces Gouda cheese, cut into small pieces
  • 3 ounces shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 (9 inch) refrigerated pie crust
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup half-and-half cream

Directions:

  1. Put the pie crust roll in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  3. Unroll your pie crust and place in your pie baking dish.
  4. Put the bacon, gouda, and parmesan in a medium bowl; mix to combine.  Transfer the mixture to your pie crust.
  5. Crack your eggs into a bowl (re-use the cheese mixture bowl), add the half-and-half, and whisk to combine.  Pour the egg mixture over the cheese.
  6. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
  7. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees and bake for an additional 25-35 minutes (until the quiche is done and brown on top).
